Sale of Potassium Nitrite and Nitromethane

The REACH regulation concerns all chemical substances, whether used in industrial processes or present in everyday products such as paints, cleaning products, clothing, furniture, and electronic devices.

Unregistered substances cannot be marketed or used.

We have a REACH registration for the following substances:

Potassium Nitrite (CAS 7758-09-0):
for the annual tonnage band of 10 to 100 tons

Nitromethane (CAS 75-52-5):
for the annual tonnage band of 1 to 10 tons

The REACH regulation, which stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and Restriction of Chemicals, is a European Union legislation implemented to better protect human health and the environment from the potential risks posed by chemicals. Entered into force on June 1, 2007, REACH imposes strict obligations on companies that manufacture or import chemical substances into the EU for commercial purposes.

The main requirements of REACH are as follows:

Registration:

Companies must register all chemical substances manufactured or imported in quantities exceeding one ton per year with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). To do so, they must provide information on the properties of the substances, their use, and risk management measures.

Evaluation:

The registration dossiers are evaluated by ECHA to verify compliance and determine if additional information is needed. Substances of concern are subjected to thorough evaluation to assess potential risks.

Authorisation:

Certain substances of very high concern (SVHC) require specific authorisation before they can be used. Companies must demonstrate that the risks associated with the use of these substances are adequately controlled or that the socio-economic benefits outweigh the potential risks.

Restriction :

REACH allows the restriction or prohibition of the use of certain chemical substances if they pose unacceptable risks to human health or the environment. Restrictions can apply to substances alone, in mixtures, or in finished articles.

In short, REACH aims to ensure the safe use of chemical substances and to encourage innovation and the development of safer alternatives to replace hazardous substances.
